Overview:

DeGould is looking for a high calibre, committed Data Manager to work with the Machine Learning and Software teams to manage the flow of quality image data from product to machine learning models. The ideal candidate would be based at the Company’s offices in Exeter, or commit to a hybrid approach, to ensure cross team collaboration and first-hand experience with the latest engineering prototypes. They would have an understanding of how image data and labelling pipelines combine with product to produce high quality datasets for machine learning algorithms. You will also be capable of interacting with and developing work patterns to handle regular and ad-hoc customer feedback, in the form of unstructured data and building this into the data annotation pipeline. The ideal candidate will be a strong problem solver with an eye for detail, have high standards for quality, and a real desire to own the product data pipeline. 

You might have a background in Data Engineering and looking to take your career to the next level by working with cutting edge machine learning products, or come from a Data / Business Analyst background looking to get more involved with building a performant data pipeline that scales.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Designing and implementing policies and procedures for effective image data management.
  • Setting up image annotation and labelling pipelines for use in machine learning applications.
  • Formulate techniques for quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy and legitimacy.
  • Extracting insights from unstructured data on a regular and ad-hoc basis.
  • Feedback insights with reports and actions for adjacent teams.
  • Be proactive with methods to improve existing processes and pipelines to scale.
  • Monitor and analyse information and data systems and evaluate their performance to discover ways of enhancing them (new technologies, upgrades etc.).
  • Troubleshoot data-related problems with customer feedback.
  • Manage other Data Engineers / Data Labellers in the team. 
  • Manage IT infrastructure and help ensure best practise across the organisation. 
  • Work across multidisciplinary teams to deliver against the company’s objectives.

Essential Skills:

  • Familiarity with AWS S3, Python.
  • An analytical mindset with problem-solving skills.
  • Desire to improve processes to increase efficiency and quality.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Empathy with customer experiences and feedback.
  • Willingness to label data and review label quality where required to uphold high quality standards.

Desirable Skills:

  • DevOps experience. 
  • ETL, Pipeline and / or SQL.
  • Experience with labelling tools such as Labelbox, CVAT, or AWS Groundtruth.
  • IT management skills or the desire to learn.
