Python Engineer

Job Overview:

DeGould is looking for an outstanding Python Engineer to work alongside the Machine Learning team to apply statistical and numerical methods to solve problems in computer vision and machine learning while writing clean, robust, and scalable, enterprise-level code.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate enterprise-level Python programming skills, a strong working knowledge of common software engineering paradigms, an understanding of/ interest in high-level machine learning, and a strong ability to solve problems using scientific methods. Strong data analysis and visualisation skills are desirable, as well as an ability to streamline and automate manual processes to enable teams to work more efficiently.

You might be working on ways to identify objects of interest in images, working with 3D data to accurately determine which vehicle segment a detection exists on, or researching innovative solutions to track defects across multiple frames in real-time. You may also be required to automate common processes, write API interfaces for machine learning inference, and architect common solutions for microservice applications.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Writing clear, robust, performant, maintainable production-level python code.
• Setting and upholding standards for code quality among team members, reviewing pull requests and conducting code reviews.
• Integrating best practices in production code deployment, testing and DevOps.
• Independently come up with solutions to solve real-world problems.
• Setting up restful endpoint microservices using Flask/ FastAPI or similar.
• Automate data analysis tasks using Python + SQL.
• Be proactive with methods to improve existing processes and pipelines to scale.
• Work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver against the company’s objectives.

Essential Skills:

• Enterprise-level Python.
• Object-oriented programming, functional programming, debugging, unit testing, code linting.
• Familiarity with Numpy, Pandas, SciPy, DVC, Scikit-learn, Matplotlib, and OpenCV.
• Familiarity with Git, GitFlow, pull requests and software development lifecycle.
• Working knowledge of SQL.
• Proficient in data visualisation and analysis.
• Understanding of multithreaded and GPU computing.
• Familiarity with AWS S3, EC2, ECS, RDS and Docker.
• A desire to improve processes to increase both efficiency and quality.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Desirable Skills:

• DevOps and GitOps experience would be beneficial.
• CI/CD pipeline knowledge (GitHub Actions, CML or similar).
• Understanding of neural networks & common frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, Nvidia TAO, etc).
• Streamlit, Matplotlib, Dash, Holoviews, Panel or similar.
