Platform Engineer

Location: Bristol, minimum of 3 days in the office.

Role Overview:

DeGould is looking for an excellent Platform Engineer, with a background in software and an infrastructure-as-code-first mindset to join our Platform team. The successful candidate will be an advocate of containerisation and event-driven architectural patterns using cloud-native solutions.

DeGould is an exciting, multi-award-winning company, in the software and AI sector. The company develops and delivers innovative vision and damage detection systems to a range of blue-chip corporate clients (including Toyota, Ford, Jaguar Land Rover, Mercedes Benz, Nissan, Honda and Bentley). As the company embarks on an exciting growth phase the company plans to expand the team, further develop existing products, and explore opportunities for new ones. 

Our Vision:
DeGould’s vision is to be the standard for new vehicle inspection in the automotive sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working with development teams to understand requirements for the applications/features being developed.
  • Contribute to the migration from AWS to GCP
  • Develop infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD pipelines for applications and services.
  • Develop tooling and features to support the development teams.
  • Responsible for running and maintaining the core platform that underpins our other applications/features.
  • Responsible for setting standards for shared DevOps infrastructure especially as it pertains to security, CI/CD, storage and architectural pattern for infrastructure.
  • Monitor infrastructure performance and improve observability tooling.

Skills:

  • Experience with Kubernetes (EKS, GKE) administration and workload management.
  • Experience with Terraform and docker.
  • Strong Experience with CI/CD tools, ideally GitHub Actions and Agro CD.
  • Experience of linux operating system.
  • Broad knowledge of coding (Python, C#, .NET, SQL, Postgres etc desirable).
  • Experience in AWS is desirable.
  • Experience of running ML workloads using cloud compute with GPU support.
  • Familiar with security best practices and networking.
  • Experience with Datadog or similar observability platform.
  • Finops or cloud cost reporting experience is desirable.
  • Excellent problem solving, debugging and trouble shooting skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast moving, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
